In the Fairfield shooting, one person was injured

Authorities have launched an investigation following a shooting incident in Fairfield that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, multiple shots were fired at an apartment building located in the 6700 block of Forrest Drive, prompting Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies to respond to the scene at around 4 p.m.

The callers reported that a person may have been shot along with the gunfire. Upon arrival, the deputies found a male victim who had sustained injuries from the shooting.

The victim was immediately transported to UAB Hospital for medical attention, and it has been confirmed that his injuries are not life-threatening. As more information becomes available, this story will be updated accordingly.
