JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (mocobizscene) – On Friday, authorities apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in a shooting that took place on Thursday at a park in Jefferson City.
At around 11 p.m., a large gathering at McClung Park turned violent resulting in two men getting shot and injured.
A news release from the Jefferson City Police Department stated that reports of gunfire prompted the dispatch of Lincoln University Police officers to the park. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered spent casings near an outdoor pavilion, suggesting that there were multiple shooters involved.
Last Friday, the Jefferson City Police Department apprehended three individuals. As per the Department’s report, the initial suspect was a 19-year-old woman from Jefferson City, who was taken into custody for being an accessory to unlawful use of a weapon and assault in the first degree.
An 18-year-old male from Jefferson City was arrested as the second suspect in the case. He was charged with Accessory to Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Assault 1st Degree.
A 17-year-old juvenile was identified as the final suspect. The authorities transported the juvenile to the Cole County Juvenile Attention Center, where they are awaiting charges for Unlawful use of a Weapon, Assault 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action. The release noted that the juvenile had a pending order concerning the Division of Youth Services due to prior contacts.
JCPD reports that the Cole County Jail is currently holding both adults while they await review by the Cole County Prosecutor’s Office.
