Devonte Burress was arrested on November 16, 2021, in connection to an attempted robbery and shooting. Following his arrest, he pleaded guilty on December 7.
When the incident occurred, Burress was just 19 years old. He was apprehended alongside another individual, who happened to be a juvenile. The arrests took place on November 23, 2021. Burress faced multiple charges, including aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The defendant admitted guilt to attempting robbery and employing a firearm. The court sentenced him to an 8-year suspended sentence for attempted robbery and three years for firearm use.
