Mocobizscene- According to federal officials, six individuals sustained injuries when an American Airlines aircraft experienced a “hard landing” at Kahului Airport in Maui on Saturday afternoon.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the hard landing incident involving American Airlines Flight 271. According to their statement, the Airbus A320 landed hard on the runway at approximately 2:00 p.m. local time.
According to American Airlines, one passenger and five flight attendants were taken to the hospital in stable condition and later released.
The airline reported that the flight, coming from Los Angeles, had a total of 167 passengers and seven crew members on board. According to a statement from American Airlines, the aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers were able to deplane without any issues.
The airline has stated that their maintenance team will be inspecting the plane as it has been taken out of service. Ensuring the safety of our customers and team members is our utmost concern, the company emphasized.
According to NBC News, the Kahului Airport reported that the flight arrived over an hour late, at 12:47 p.m., after taxiing at LAX before takeoff. It remains unclear why the flight was delayed and whether this had any connection to the hard landing.
We have contacted the Maui Police Department and Hawaii’s Department of Transportation for comment, as reported by USA TODAY. Six individuals were transported to the hospital after an American Airlines aircraft executed a rough landing at the Maui airport.
