Wednesday marked the apprehension of a 19-year-old Floridian who threatened to carry out a mass shooting on Thanksgiving Day in a crowded New York City subway via the Internet. The individual responsible for the alleged threat has been identified by Pinellas Park police as Robert Trout III.
WFLA, citing an arrest affidavit, reports that police received an anonymous tip regarding the social media-disseminated threat over the phone. In the Instagram post, Trout threatened to murder whoever he spotted alighting from that f-—king train. “If you’re from New York City, do not take the train on Thursday evening.”
The aforementioned remarks purportedly accompanied a video that portrayed Trout “carelessly handling firearms.” The suspect, who was captured on surveillance footage brandishing two Glock.40-caliber pistols and claiming to have sixty rounds of ammunition with the intention of murdering sixty individuals, according to the police.
Reportedly, “multiple sources,” which included Trout’s mother, verified his identity.”
Trout had familial connections to New York and was anticipated to return there in the near future. Trout allegedly made threats of a mass massacre and utilized a two-way communication device in violation of the law. According to jail records, he was remanded to the Pinellas County Jail for a “FBI courtesy hold,” which suggests he will likely also be charged at the federal level.
