Friday Afternoon Residential Burglary: Teen Arrested

Chief Antonio DeVaul of the Takoma Park Police Department made an official statement regarding the apprehension of a Hyattsville, Maryland-born female juvenile, aged 15, on charges of residential burglary.

As per the police statement, Takoma Park Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Spring Avenue on November 24 at approximately 2:00 pm in response to a residential burglary that was in progress. The dwelling remained unoccupied throughout the renovation process. However, while remotely monitoring the property via a home video surveillance system, the homeowner contacted the Takoma Park Police promptly after observing two suspects inside the residence. The homeowner requested a neighbor to conduct a simultaneous check-in on the residence while they awaited the response of the authorities.

When Takoma Park Police officers arrived, they discovered that the two suspects had eluded capture by foot from the location. A juvenile suspect, aged 15, was apprehended and subsequently detained in the vicinity of the rear of the Washington McLaughlin School. Following her subsequent transport to the police station, the adolescent was subsequently released into the custody of her parents.

Law enforcement authorities are proactively seeking leads in an effort to identify and apprehend the last surviving suspect.
