Skeletal remains discovered on hunting property last December were recognized as those of a man who had been missing since 2020.

Earlier this week, investigators were able to identify skeletal human remains that were discovered on a hunting property in Graysville, Alabama, last December.

DNA testing was used to assist with the identification process, according to a report by The Associated Press. The remains were found on December 13, 2022, just before 6 p.m., on a privately-owned hunting property located on Sherry Street.

The Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner, Bill Yates, disclosed this information on Friday, according to AL.com. The remains have been identified as belonging to Michael Lynn Dillard, a 49-year-old man, as reported by the AP.

Dillard was reported missing to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on April 1, 2020, and he was last seen alive on November 24, 2019. The authorities are currently investigating both the circumstances behind the missing person case and the cause of Dillard’s death, according to the news outlet.

However, no official cause of death has been released at this time.
