MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A man who was sentenced to jail for killing a Montgomery teen was released after serving only part of his time.
Andie Dollerson, who was 20 years old at the time, got 15 years in prison this year after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2020 shooting death of Ceyeria Lee. Dollerson was freed on Monday, Ceyeria’s mother said.
Investigators say that Lee was killed while Ceyeria, her twin sister, and Dollerson, who was 17 at the time, were sitting in a car at Oak Park.
On Thursday, the date of Ceyeria’s death, her family and friends got together to remember her life. At that gathering, Ashley Lee, Ceyeria’s mother, said it was sad to hear that Dollerson was freed.
“Three years was not enough time for Mr. Dollerson to really sit down and think about what he did,” Lee said. “He took my daughter’s life, but he’s out living his best life. It’s not fair.”
Daryl Bailey, the district attorney for Montgomery County, said that Dollerson should not have been freed.
”When you give somebody a few months for killing someone, it sends a very bad message to our community,” Bailey said.
Ceyeria was 14 years old when she died. She would have been a senior in high school in 2023–2024.
Her mother said that they are going to open a dance school in her honor.
