A Huntsville man is in jail after being charged with two counts of drunk driving in less than a month.
Christopher Obee, 58, pled guilty to impaired driving, failing to comply with a breath demand, and driving while suspended in a Bracebridge courtroom yesterday.
The court heard that on January 10, 2022, at around 6 p.m., police were called to an accident on Lone Pine Drive. Obee, the driver, said a snowmobile had cut him off, but authorities detected alcohol on his breath. He was given a breath test and blew 265 mg per 100 ml of blood, which was more than triple the legal limit.
Less than a month later, on Feb. 9, 2022, police received a report about Obee from a concerned individual. Obee, who was driving again, was apprehended by police. Despite attempts to pull him over, Obee continued driving and eventually came to a stop on an unmaintained road. Obee refused to undergo a breathalyzer test after exiting the vehicle and refused to be handcuffed, according to the court.
Obee’s third and fourth impaired-driving offenses were discussed in court.
Obee was sentenced to 105 days in jail and a three-year driving prohibition.
