The Birmingham Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that took place on Friday evening.
According to Truman Fitzgerald, the information officer for the BPD, officers responded to a shooting at around 7 pm in the 400 block of Goldwire Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered three adult men who had been shot. All three were rushed to UAB Hospital, where one of the victims died. The remaining two victims suffered life-threatening and non-life-threatening injuries, respectively.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the victims were gathered near the 100 block of 4th Avenue Southwest when the perpetrator fired shots at them.
Later, the police found a fourth gunshot victim in the 500 block of Sixth Avenue South who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is not believed to be involved in the Goldwire Street shooting.
At present, the BPD does not have anyone in custody and is asking anyone with information to come forward by contacting BPD or CrimeStoppers.
