VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — The ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a gunshot involving a Vestavia Hills Police Department officer.
According to ALEA, VHPD officers began pursuing a vehicle along I-65 around 1 a.m. Friday.
The chase continued into northern Birmingham, where two men were apprehended.
During their arrest, a third suspect escaped the vehicle on foot while brandishing a pistol.
An officer then fired his weapon, but the subject managed to flee and is still at large.
The initial cause for the pursuit remains unknown.
