A homicide investigation is underway after the shooting of a 44-year-old man in Vestavia Hills, Alabama

A homicide investigation is underway in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, following the shooting of 44-year-old Snir Lalum. The gunshot happened around 5:15 a.m. at 115 Walter Davis Drive, which is home to Insta Movers. Officers from the South Precinct discovered Lalum unmoved with a gunshot wound in a warehouse space.

Officers gave immediate assistance until Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived. Lalum was then transferred to UAB Hospital in critical condition. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that he died as a result of his injuries.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Lalum was shot at his workplace by an unnamed suspect or suspects. The attack’s motive is unknown, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Birmingham Police Department’s Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.

This is the 82nd murder inquiry in Birmingham in 2023. The Birmingham Police Department follows the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting criteria, which exclude justified deaths from total homicide numbers.

The inquiry is still going on. The understanding of the incident may vary when witnesses are interviewed and evidence is reviewed.
