USGS reports 3.8 magnitude earthquake hits Inland Empire region, causing widespread shaking

Mocobizscene- Late Thursday night, the Ontario area was shaken by a magnitude 3.8 earthquake.

The earthquake occurred at 11:38 p.m., with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reporting that it struck just 2 miles east-southeast of Ontario. It occurred at a depth of approximately 8 miles. People in Los Angeles, parts of Orange County, and Redlands likely felt the shaking, according to USGS maps.

No damage was reported immediately. The earthquake struck only a week following a significant seismic event.

The earthquake sent powerful tremors throughout the region, causing significant shaking that was felt across a large area of Southern California. An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.6 hit the Malibu area, causing widespread tremors across the greater Los Angeles area.
