Thieves Caught On Camera Stealing Christmas Decorations From A Home In Lakewood

Mocobizscene-  The holiday season is usually when people fill their neighbourhoods with festive decorations, bringing joy to the community. Unfortunately, this tradition has become a nightmare for one resident in Lakewood. She prefers to remain anonymous and didn’t want to show her face on camera, but she shared the distressing experience of having her Christmas decorations stolen from her front yard.

“It’s disheartening, you know? You work so hard to achieve what little you have, and then someone can just come along and take it,” expressed the resident with a sense of frustration.

Around 9:54 p.m. on Wednesday, a resident witnessed an incident. According to the captured Ring doorbell video, two individuals in a red pickup truck swiftly approached her yard. They proceeded to snatch her candy cane decorations within five minutes.

The resident shared their experience of receiving notifications about people passing by their doorway. Initially, they didn’t believe that someone was actually at their doorstep. So, they waited for four minutes before clicking on the notification. Unfortunately, it was already too late by the time they finally clicked on it.

A resident reported that thieves stole the entire set of eight candy canes directly from the ground. In the video, she mentioned that a car came from the corner, which she believes startled the thieves and prevented them from taking more.

“It’s our first year in this neighbourhood, so it’s disheartening to see someone purposely stealing our Christmas decorations,” expressed the resident with a tinge of sadness.

According to nearby residents, the neighbourhood has been previously targeted by thieves.

Lakewood resident Jackson Wilfong expressed his concerns about the recent thefts in the area. He mentioned that while they haven’t personally experienced any thefts except for a catalytic converter, their neighbours had their tires stolen. However, they haven’t heard of any incidents involving stolen Christmas lights. Wilfong found the situation a little alarming.

“It’s unfortunate, but the trend is gaining popularity. It seems like people are becoming more audacious,” expressed Michele Thomas, a resident of Lakewood.

The stolen decorations were reported to the police, and the Lakewood Sheriff Station has initiated an investigation into the incident.
