The average income for a single man in this area is $56,891, whereas a single woman only earns $33,136 on average. As a result, single men face a housing burden of 41.89 percent, which is nearly double the burden of 71.92 percent that women experience.

In terms of affordability, Miami is considered the second most expensive city after New York. The average cost of a studio apartment in New York is $3,308, surpassing that of Miami. When it comes to female renters in New York, they need to allocate 79.42 percent of their annual income for housing, while single men only need to allocate 60.99 percent.

According to a study conducted by RentHop, it was revealed that single women in major US cities spend a staggering 124 percent more of their income on rent compared to their male counterparts.

Wichita, Kansas takes the crown as the most affordable city, with an impressive median studio rent of $565 per month. This means that a single renter in Wichita only needs to allocate 17.65 percent of their income towards rent. However, it’s worth noting that there are other cities that also offer affordable living options. Minneapolis, Colorado Springs, and Seattle are among these cities, providing renters with budget-friendly housing alternatives.
