Mocobizscene- One sixth-grader lost their life, and five others, including students and an administrator, were injured in a shooting at Perry High School in Iowa. Dylan Butler, the 17-year-old suspect and student at the school, took his own life after shooting himself. Additionally, an unarmed improvised explosive device was discovered by the police at the school.
The event happened before classes started since the middle school and the school share a building. At the time, both schools’ pupils were there for a breakfast program. About 150 law enforcement personnel from several agencies responded to the site, and their prompt action was credited with saving lives.
Several politicians and presidential contenders have commented on the tragedy, with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds stating that it has “shook the entire state to its core.”
