Maryland man makes first court appearance for repeated Georgetown commercial robberies

Mocobizscene- A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia has stated that a Maryland man, who has been accused of robbing a Georgetown business on multiple occasions, made his initial court appearance on Monday.

Roberto McBean, aged 30, was responsible for a series of robberies at the Glover Park Market on 37th St. NW. According to the release, these incidents occurred multiple times between November 23, 2023, and January 8, 2024. The authorities have reported that McBean managed to steal more than $1,000 from the store during this period.

The USAO reported that McBean often used a firearm during the robberies, compelling store employees to open the cash register and hand over money.

FBI agents from the Washington Field Office apprehended McBean on Friday following his indictment. McBean had his initial court appearance in D.C. on Monday, with his detention hearing scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1.
