Mocobizscene-An Indianapolis family is grieving the loss of a cherished family member following her tragic death on Christmas morning. According to her brother, Devin Dozier, she was a determined and intelligent individual, always eager to learn and understand new things.

Shania Shaw, a 24-year-old woman, was tragically shot and killed on Monday morning near North Arlington Avenue and East 56th Street on the northeast side of Indy. Devin Dozier, Shaw’s brother, spoke to WRTV on Tuesday, expressing his grief and shock over the incident.

“He could have returned my baby to me, he could have instructed me to pick her up at 3 o’clock in the morning, and I would have been there without hesitation. But he chose not to,” expressed Dozier with a heavy heart. Authorities have apprehended a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident. According to online jail records, he is currently facing a murder charge. Shaw’s loved ones maintain that she fell victim to domestic violence.”

“Dozier emphasizes the importance of recognizing red flags in relationships and prioritizing the well-being of oneself and loved ones. She advises against trying to see potential or good qualities in mature individuals who exhibit concerning behavior. Domestic violence advocates are cautioning about a potential surge in violence during the holiday season. According to Laura Berry, the Executive Director of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, incidents of domestic violence typically rise by around 20 percent during this time.
