Four individuals accused of stealing an 18-karat gold toilet have been charged

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, four individuals have been accused of stealing a solid gold toilet worth approximately $1.25 million.

The toilet’s present value, which is yet to be located, has been estimated by officials at a staggering 4.8 million pounds or approximately $5.93 million.

In 2019, the toilet that was recently installed at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, was taken. This toilet had been previously showcased at the Guggenheim museum in New York City as a part of the “America” exhibit by Maurizio Cattelan, an Italian artist. Following the theft, Cattelan expressed his desire that the heist was a form of Robin Hood-inspired action, as per Blenheim Palace.

According to the police, the gold toilet was in perfect working condition and had been linked to the plumbing system at Blenheim Palace prior to its theft. The removal of the toilet resulted in considerable harm and flooding within the structure.

Police have charged 39-year-old James Sheen with burglary, transferring criminal property, and conspiracy to commit the same offenses. Three men have been charged with criminal offenses and are set to appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on November 28th. Michael Jones, aged 38, is facing a burglary charge, while Fred Doe, aged 35, and Bora Guccuk, aged 39, are accused of conspiring to transfer criminal property.
