DJS Director’s Misconduct Facilitated Escape of D.C. Drug Dealer from Custody

Mocobizscene-  The Director of the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) was involved in misconduct that aided a drug dealer in escaping custody in Washington D.C.

Yuripzy Morgan, spokesperson for the community group PEACE, shares her thoughts on whether Schiraldi will be able to maintain his position or if Governor Wes Moore will face increasing pressure to find a new Secretary for the Department of Juvenile Services in Maryland.

Vincent Schiraldi, the former head of D.C.’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, was discovered to have disregarded important security protocols during his tenure. Currently serving as Maryland’s Secretary for the Department of Juvenile Services, Schiraldi’s past actions raise concerns about his leadership capabilities and commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for youth in his care.

The mishandling of juveniles involved in crime has once again come into question, as it has been revealed that the violations led to the escape of a drug dealer who remained on the run for 22 days. This recent discovery further highlights concerns surrounding his ability to effectively handle such cases.

Yuripzy Morgan, a spokesperson for the community group PEACE, shared her thoughts on the longevity of Schiraldi’s tenure as well as the potential pressure on Governor Wes Moore to consider a new Secretary for the Department of Juvenile Services in Maryland, during an interview with FOX45 News.

According to Morgan, the governor’s office needs to make a definitive decision and acknowledge that this individual is not suitable for Maryland. Morgan points out that this person was not successful in New York or in D.C., and a significant factor contributing to this lack of success is their philosophy.
