NFL fans were left with a heavy heart after learning about the recent update on former New Orleans quarterback, Drew Brees. The 2020 season marked the end of Brees’ remarkable journey in the league, where he shattered several records for both the Saints and the NFL.
During his last season with the Saints, Brees noticeably lacked the arm strength he had demonstrated in previous years, which affected his ability to throw the ball down the field. In a recent appearance on ESPN’s radio show “Greeny,” Brees shed light on the reason behind his arm struggles.
According to the transcription from ESPN, Brees admitted that he would continue playing in the NFL if he was able to, but unfortunately, he is unable to throw a football with his right arm.
“Look, I’ll let you in on a little fact. I don’t throw with my right arm anymore. My right arm does not work. So, when I throw in the backyard right now, I throw left-handed.”
He said the dislocated shoulder he suffered in 2005 with the San Diego Chargers that almost ended his career “put me on the fast track to a degenerative shoulder and all kind of arthritic changes.” He added again that he doesn’t throw with his right arm anymore, but “If I could, I would absolutely still be playing.”
