Saturday in Tennessee was marked by severe weather and tornadoes that caused extensive damage throughout the state, resulting in at least three fatalities.
Clarksville, which is situated in Montgomery County, has verified the fatalities. Approximately 30 miles west of Nashville, Dickson County also documented substantial destruction, including downed trees and power lines, as well as road closures.
Police in Clarksville were dispatched to multiple locations in response to the devastation caused by a tornado that made landfall at approximately 1:30 p.m. EST. At 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, approximately 21,000 companies and residences were without power.
A tornado that had previously struck Weakley County caused numerous injuries. Two residences sustained significant damage, two individuals required transport to a nearby hospital, and a factory and a local National Guard armory were all affected.
Through the weekend, the South is anticipated to experience severe thunderstorms, high winds, and tornadoes as a result of a cross-country system that is causing the severe weather.
