Where is Lakira Goldsmith? The Mysterious Disappearance!

Lakira Goldsmith loved being a mother to her 2-year-old kid in 2018. She was a young mother at 20 years old, but she was a devoted mother who adored her son beyond all else. She was residing in Montgomery, Alabama, with a close-knit family.

Lakira’s family had also affectionately dubbed her ‘Pigg’ (with two g’s), which she accepted. Many people called her ‘Pigg,’ and she was a very gregarious and outgoing person with many friends.

Lakira enjoyed a date with her boyfriend on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, a few days after Thanksgiving. He met her at her grandmother’s place, and they went out for the evening.

Lakira’s grandma noticed a car stop up outside the flat in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 28. She looked around to see if it was Lakira coming home, and it was. She saw Lakira get out of the car and then went to bed, knowing her granddaughter was safe at home.

But Lakira never returned to the residence that night.

Since then, Lakira has not been seen or heard from.

Where is Lakira Goldsmith?

On July 24, 1998, Lakira Dajour Goldsmith was born. We don’t know much about her childhood, but we do know that Lakira has a supportive family network, and she had a baby boy in 2016 at the age of 18.

Lakira adored her son and being a mother, despite her youth. It wasn’t always easy, but she was a good mother to her son.

Lakira had severe asthma and had to take medication on a regular basis. Lakira’s asthma was so severe that she had been hospitalized on multiple occasions. While Lakira took care of herself, she was also described as the type of person who would put others first, even if it meant causing her asthma.

Her social media accounts indicate that she is from Rochester, New York, but we know that she lived in Montgomery, Alabama, in 2018. Her family, including her mother and grandmother, also lived nearby.

THE DISAPPEARANCE

Lakira was organizing a romantic night with her boyfriend only days after Thanksgiving in 2018. She dressed up in a black velvet knee-length gown, a silver rhinestone choker necklace, silver rhinestone earrings, and a silver lip ring for the evening.

Her grandmother heard a car pull up shortly after midnight. She noticed Lakira exiting her boyfriend’s car as he dropped her off. Her grandmother went to bed, assuming she’d be in soon.

But Lakira never entered.

The following morning, the family began asking around the complex to check if anyone had seen her. Her mother also reported her missing to the police. An officer arrived, took a report, and that was the end of it.

Law enforcement searches for Lakira were virtually non-existent, so her family felt they needed to pick up their attempts to find her.

THE SEARCH

Lakira’s family tried very hard to get help from law enforcement, but the officials didn’t seem too worried.

First, I assumed it was a matter of manpower. Montgomery, Alabama is a large metropolis and the state capital. Perhaps their police force is understaffed. This happens in a lot of cases, and while it’s unfortunate, sometimes they’re just doing their best.

However, a few events lead me to believe that this is not always the case. Other cases of missing women in Montgomery, which we’ll discuss in a moment, seemed to garner a lot of attention. It was also discovered some months later that Lakira’s case had never been recorded into the Alabama database.

It was also discovered, and I’m not sure who learned this–the family or the authorities–that a maintenance worker at the apartment came forward with a story about seeing Lakira the night she went missing (actually the very early morning).

She had just gotten out of her boyfriend’s car, as her grandmother had witnessed, and had her relationship confirmed before beginning to walk towards her apartment. According to a maintenance worker, woman came to a halt and asked to use his phone.

I have a lot of questions about this, but we’ll get to them later.

He returned a few minutes later to discover Lakira gone and his phone on the nearby stairs.

He took his phone and entered his apartment.

Here’s when things become murky. And there could be answers that make sense that I just couldn’t locate.

What happened to her phone? If her phone had died when she was at her apartment complex, why not go inside and use the phone? Or didn’t she have a phone at all?

Also, assuming this had occurred, who was she calling at 2:00 a.m.? Why didn’t she just walk into her apartment? If the police had looked into it, they could have validated this information using phone records.

Lakira’s mother wondered if she had decided to visit a friend’s house a few kilometers away. They investigated the area around the apartment, as well as the path between the unit on Narrow Lane Road and her friend’s home in North Montgomery’s Newtown neighborhood. That distance is around 10 miles. They were concerned that anything had occurred to Lakira on her trip there.

However, there was no evidence of Lakira anywhere.

Lakira’s asthma made her family even more apprehensive. Had she had a medical emergency and need assistance?

Lakira’s friends and family conducted the majority of the physical searches. Her mother also attempted to gain media exposure, but garnered virtually little.

The sad part is that other women would go missing and garner some attention.
