‘Aloha’: Montgomery honors Elvis Presley’s Hawaii show on its 50th anniversary

In honour of the 50th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s “Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite” show on January 14, 1973, Andy Norman is ready to say “Aloha” from Montgomery.

On July 29 at 7 p.m., Norman and the Burning Love Band will be playing at the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts at Troy University. Norman said that they would bring a 14-piece band and play all 22 songs from Elvis’s set list, including “My Way,” “C.C. Rider,” and “Burning Love.”

Norman said that for the second part of the show, they will play more Elvis songs from the 1970s.

“I don’t wear a jump suit, but I will wear something snazzy like Elvis wore,” Norman said.

Tickets for VIP seats are $35, while those for general admission cost $30. Tickets can be bought at Lisenby’s Music Shop in Prattville, Indulgence Salon & Spa in Prattville, and online at eventbrite.com

Norman said that some tickets will also be available at the door of the show.

“We did a show last time in April of 2015, and a lot of folks have been wanting us to do another one,” Norman said.

Norman said that Curt Gantt, who is the executive producer of Elmore County TV, has helped him a lot. Elmore County TV is a monthly online show about the people, places, companies, and events in Elmore County. Norman’s show in 2015 was filmed by Gantt.

“I called him back and asked if he’d like to film the show again,” Norman said. “He kind of took the horse by the reins and went and got the Davis Theatre. It was a blessing.”
