During the chase, a Birmingham police officer was injured

Birmingham police officer On Thursday, a police officer based in Birmingham got injured during a high-speed car chase.

According to reports, the police were notified about a suspect who had returned to a business after allegedly stealing some items in the 3400 block of Fourth Avenue South.

Upon reaching the scene, the suspect sped away in a vehicle. The officers pursued the suspect for around 15 minutes until he ultimately crashed into a police patrol car in the 6800 block of Second Avenue South.

The police took the suspect into custody, and the officer, although not reported to have any serious injuries, was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination. Similarly, the suspect was also taken to a hospital.
