The hospital is currently treating a teenager who was discovered with a gunshot wound in a residence located in La Marque. The individual is in the process of recovering and receiving medical attention.
Police reported that the incident occurred shortly before midnight at the 400 block of Avenue B where the shooting took place.
The 17-year-old Texas City High School student, who was identified as the victim, is currently in critical condition but thankfully stable in the hospital.
According to the La Marque Police Department, the incident was indeed a drive-by shooting. However, the officials have stated that they only possess a vague description of the vehicle responsible for the shooting.
According to Milly Garcia, who resides in the vicinity, she heard around 30 gunshots.
Garcia vividly remembers the terrifying moment when he heard the loud noises coming closer and closer, almost as if they were shooting at their cars. The fear of being robbed or killed was overwhelming, and he couldn’t help but wonder if their lives were in danger.
According to authorities, the teenager was present inside the residence along with several others when she sustained a gunshot wound. Our team from ABC13 observed the investigators gathering evidence outside the house. The police reported discovering several shell casings in the area.
At present, the police have no leads or motive in the case, but they are actively continuing with their investigation.
Over the course of the last two weeks, three females were shot in the area, and the latest victim was a teenager. Unfortunately, on October 13th, a mother was shot and killed by her own daughter, as reported by Texas City officers.
A drive-by shooting took place two miles away from the incident that occurred on Wednesday night, on Oct. 20. The shooting targeted a home and resulted in the injury of a 46-year-old. It is currently unknown whether the two drive-by shootings are related.
