Early Saturday morning, authorities discovered the body of a man near Clinton Lake, while a woman was transported to a nearby hospital. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
The Lenexa Police Department had reached out to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for help.
According to George Diepenbrock, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, on Saturday morning, Lenexa PD requested assistance from DGSO in locating two individuals who were suspected to be in the vicinity of Clinton Lake.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, the vehicle was found on the north side of the spillway, in the vicinity of Mutt Run Dog Park, according to Diepenbrock.
Diepenbrock reported that after a thorough search of the region using drones, the Sheriff’s team was able to identify a heat signature along the creek bank. They discovered a woman in the vicinity, along with a deceased man.
The woman was transported to the hospital by medical personnel. There is no additional information available about her condition at this time, according to Diepenbrock.
Diepenbrock stated that the ongoing investigation at the scene is being carried out by the Sheriff’s investigations team along with the Douglas County Underwater Search and Recovery team.
According to Diepenbrock, it is uncertain if investigators suspect any foul play. As of Saturday morning, the sheriff’s office has not released any additional information.
