NYPD arrests man who fled custody by using an improvised rope at a hospital in NYC.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. – According to the NYPD, a man who had previously escaped police custody in August by creating a makeshift rope with bed sheets and towels and climbing down it at Mount Sinai Beth Israel has been apprehended in Manhattan on Tuesday. Click here for the full story.

According to authorities, Yenchun Chen, a 44-year-old resident of Queens, was apprehended in Manhattan at 8 a.m. and has since been charged with the crime of escaping custody.

Authorities have reported that Chen was arrested on July 31 on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance. However, on August 4, he was taken to the hospital due to a medical issue and managed to escape custody on August 9, as confirmed by the police.

Authorities reported that Chen ingeniously used bed sheets and bath towels to tie them together and climb down from the fifth floor to the second floor. After that, he wisely utilized a ladder to reach the first floor.
