According to authorities, Yenchun Chen, a 44-year-old resident of Queens, was apprehended in Manhattan at 8 a.m. and has since been charged with the crime of escaping custody.
Authorities have reported that Chen was arrested on July 31 on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance. However, on August 4, he was taken to the hospital due to a medical issue and managed to escape custody on August 9, as confirmed by the police.
Authorities reported that Chen ingeniously used bed sheets and bath towels to tie them together and climb down from the fifth floor to the second floor. After that, he wisely utilized a ladder to reach the first floor.
