When talk shows make a comeback after their summer break, they usually take a few moments to discuss the events that occurred while they were away. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Whoopi Goldberg had to address the most significant Black story of the summer, the Montgomery Riverboat Brawl, during her return to The View. The legendary actress and comedian not only offered her opinions on the massive fight but also wore a folding chair necklace as a tribute to Reggie Ray. Ray is the man who was seen using a white chair to protect himself and others in the video.

The co-founder of Jon Basíl Tequila firmly believes that their spirit is not your average drink. In this first part of the Securing the Bag series, we will delve into what makes this tequila so unique.

Goldberg started off by making it clear that the show does not condone violence. She then went on to share a story that took place in Montgomery, Alabama, where a riverboat captain with 227 passengers on board was attempting to dock his boat in the designated spot. However, a pontoon boat was blocking the way, and the co-captain, who happened to be Black, went to confront them. A fight broke out, and something unexpected occurred, which was quite unusual.

As she spoke, she expressed how black people seemed to have emerged out of thin air, as if dropped from the sky. The whole experience was unbelievable to her.

Whoopi Goldberg provided an excellent summary of the recent events, especially regarding the widely-shared video of the fight. She acknowledged the celebration among Black people over the outcome of the fight and the potential lessons that could be learned from it. Goldberg also humorously commented on the abundance of memes, stating that “they were off the hook,” and even joked about wearing a folding chair.

During a recent episode of The View, the hosts acknowledged that the situation could have been much worse, but they also pointed out that there was a straightforward solution to avoid the entire debacle.

The EGOT winner emphasized that it’s important to remember that if we don’t want to be hit, we shouldn’t hit others. He also stressed the importance of allowing people to do their jobs without interference. While the situation was made light of, it’s crucial to acknowledge that it could have ended much worse if there were guns involved. Let’s learn from this and avoid similar situations in the future.

I’m going to hop online and track down that necklace now.
