A year ago, Ellio Wagner, a student and model, relocated to New York City from the western part of the country.
As she glanced at her bruised eye, Wagner couldn’t help but recall the traumatic incident from Friday. The injury served as a painful reminder of the encounter she had faced.
Wagner recounted the incident where he was walking to work and a seemingly harmless guy was walking towards him. He was preoccupied with his phone and wasn’t alert. Suddenly, the guy charged diagonally towards him and punched him in the face before running away. Wagner was taken aback and didn’t have time to react or comprehend what was happening.
According to Wagner, she dialed 911 and was able to receive the necessary assistance.
She adds, “I was afraid he might return. Alternatively, I just needed to confirm that he was nowhere near me.”
The woman is feeling overwhelmed with frustration and confusion since the man who approached her was a complete stranger. She cannot seem to comprehend the reason behind his actions and is left feeling uneasy.
Wagner shared, “I am feeling particularly anxious and cautious today. As a safety measure, I am carrying my keys with me at all times. This way, I can be prepared to defend myself if anyone approaches me.”
Although 6th Avenue is bustling with both pedestrians and vehicles, law enforcement officials have reported no arrests and have provided scant information on the perpetrator.
On TikTok, Wagner decided to share her personal experience and story. She soon found out that there were other women who had gone through similar encounters and decided to spread awareness among them.
According to Wagner, it’s always a good idea to carry pepper spray or some sort of self-defense tool with you. It’s important to remain aware of your surroundings and stay off your phone while in public. To ensure your safety, it’s necessary to be vigilant and keep an eye out for potential threats. “You have to treat everyone like a predator,” advises Wagner.
With a heart full of hope, she is fervently praying for justice to be served. She also wishes that the perpetrator wouldn’t have the audacity to repeat such an act on anyone else.
