A Dothan nurse has been arrested for taking pain pills from hospice patients

DOTHAN, Ala – A Dothan nurse was arrested this week after being charged with taking pain medicines meant for her patients over two years ago.

According to the indictment, April Norris went to Southeast Medicine Shop in April 2020 to pick up Oxycodone for her patient but instead kept the medication for herself.

Norris was indicted on ten charges of Possession of Drugs by Fraud by a Houston County Grand Jury in April 2021, and it is now unknown why Norris was caught almost two years later.

According to jail records, Norris was admitted and released from the Houston County Jail on a $3,000 bond on Monday, August 7.

Norris is not listed as a registered nurse on the Alabama Board of Nursing website as of Thursday morning.
