Mocobizscene– Indiana State Police are currently looking for two suspects who fled from the scene of a traffic stop involving a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on Indy’s west side near Speedway on Tuesday night, when a trooper allegedly fired their weapon.
A trooper from ISP flagged down a 2021 Kia at Beeler Avenue and W. 30 Street intersection around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was identified as stolen, matching the description the agency had been searching for.
The ISP reported that the vehicle, carrying three individuals, stopped on the right side of the road after making a northward turn onto Beeler Avenue.
According to the Indiana State Police (ISP), one individual fled the scene on foot during the traffic stop while another occupant of the vehicle drove away. The trooper could apprehend the third and final occupant, who complied with their instructions.
During the encounter, the trooper allegedly fired their service weapon, but fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire, as confirmed by ISP. Shortly after the incident, law enforcement discovered the stolen vehicle near the location of the traffic stop.
The ISP, with support from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and the Speedway Police Department, is actively searching the area.
The trooper has been placed on administrative leave, as is the standard procedure whenever a soldier fires a weapon.
