A substantial quantity of illicit substances was discovered in the possession of a Los Angeles, California resident subsequent to a 115-mile-long pursuit by law enforcement along I-57 through the vicinity of Marion and Effingham, traversing the local region.
According to information from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, Dejon Wooden accelerated to more than 100 miles per hour during the pursuit in which he attempted to elude deputies by passing numerous semi-tractor-trailers in the emergency lane.
The pursuit came to a successful conclusion when Wooden’s vehicle was penned in by squad cars in Effingham using a Precision Immobilization Technique, which rendered it immobile.
Deputies from Williamson County report recovering 760 pounds of the schedule two narcotic Promethazine and 80.3 pounds of cannabis. $250,000 is the assessed street value of the substances.
In addition to cannabis trafficking and possession with the intent to deliver, Wooden was apprehended on Class X felony charges of aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and evasion, and multiple traffic violations. Additionally, he was charged with controlled substance trafficking.
