Thursday morning, Eduardo Escobedo, also known as “El Mago” at the age of 39, was shot and killed in an incident, according to official records. mAt approximately 8:30 am, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department conducted a homicide investigation subsequent to their arrival at the location in the Willowbrook neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner affirm Escobedo’s demise, and Guillermo De Los Angeles Jr., 47, is identified as the second victim. A third individual, who had firearm wounds that were not life-threatening, was transported to the hospital.
Lieutenant Omar Camacho, speaking to KABC-TV Channel 7 at the site, stated that from the previous evening until early morning, there appeared to have been a gathering or party at the location.
Escobedo, who was identified as the primary cannabis distributor in Los Angeles and was considered the son of Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, was accused of money laundering through the purchase and shipment of extravagant automobiles to Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa and the cartel’s stronghold. Additionally, he was accused of plotting the assassination of a rival trafficker, but was never indicted for the crime.
Escobedo was released in 2018 after serving nearly five years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute over 10,000 kilograms of cannabis and laundering criminal proceeds, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.
Following his release, Escobedo founded the Benihibachi restaurant and food truck franchise, where he flaunted an opulent lifestyle on social media. Images of Floyd Mayweather, Al Pacino, and an alleged member of the Italian Mafia were among his online contributions. Escobedo’s counsel, Ezekiel Cortez, underscored his client’s metamorphosis prior to his acquittal, stating, “Mr. Escobedo demonstrated to the entire world that he severed all ties.”
