Two individuals killed by gunfire outside a liquor store in Northeast Washington DC

Late Monday, two individuals tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident that took place in front of a liquor store in Northeast D.C., according to the authorities.

The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the shooting took place on the street at 2300 4th Street NE, shortly before midnight. The incident occurred approximately half a mile away from the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station.

The authorities are currently on the lookout for the shooter, who has been identified as a man in his early twenties. He was spotted wearing a white jacket and jeans.

According to police data, there has been a significant increase in homicides and violent crime in D.C. this year. With over 256 homicides so far, the numbers have risen by 33% compared to last year. Additionally, violent crime has seen a 40% increase.
