Thief involved in violent subway cello attack released without bail, despite opposition from DA Bragg’s office

Mocobizscene- A 23-year-old woman with a history of eight previous arrests has been apprehended for the shocking bottle attack that was caught on video, targeting a subway cellist in New York City. Despite pleas for her to be held on bail, she was released promptly on Thursday.

During her arraignment on Thursday, Manhattan prosecutors pushed for a cash bail of $15,000 or a bond of $45,000 for Hunter, who is facing second-degree assault charges. They emphasized that Hunter had failed to show up at three out of five court dates in previous criminal cases last year.

According to prosecutor Alexandra Robertson, there is a lack of confidence among the people that she will willingly come back to court, as she stated to Judge Marva Brown in Manhattan criminal court.

According to the Manhattan DA’s Office, there were two cases of petit larceny with bench warrants out for Hunter’s arrest in Brooklyn.

In October, she was arrested once again, this time on charges of grand larceny. According to sources, she allegedly stole two bathing suits valued at $2,050 from Bergdorf Goodman.

According to sources, she was arrested twice in 2019 for assaulting her mom. However, despite Brown’s criminal record, she chose to release Hunter under supervised release instead of setting bail for the assault charge, which is considered a violent felony under current law.

“I haven’t played my cello since I was attacked in the NYC subway… until today,” Forrest shared in a recent post on X. He also showcased some complimentary gifts he received from a music company.

The incident left the Mount Sinai PhD student feeling demoralized and saddened, even though he was not seriously injured. He is currently unable to bring himself to play music.

After receiving a shipment of new tools from D’Addario Orchestral, an instrument supply company, he was able to try them out and play a little inside his apartment.

Last week, Forrest made the decision to suspend his subway performances “indefinitely” and appealed to the NYPD for the protection of musicians. Forrest is actively involved in the MTA’s Music Under New York program, which arranges for musicians to showcase their talent at major transportation centers in the city.

Forrest and a group of fellow musicians formed the Subway Performers Advocacy Group. Their primary objective is to urge the city to enhance security measures in order to safeguard musicians.

The MTA issued a statement expressing their concern for the safety of everyone in the transit system, including the musicians. They firmly stated that no one should have to experience violence, and reassured that the NYPD is actively pursuing the perpetrator of this senseless attack, who will be held accountable for their actions.
