Mocobizscene- In Times Square, two officers of the New York Police Department (NYPD) were assaulted while attempting to apprehend a male suspect.
Saturday, January 27th, CCTV footage of the incident shows officers attempting to disperse a crowd in front of a building on West 42nd Street prior to the onset of an altercation.
Police then observe the suspects striking and punching officers before fleeing in the direction of 7th Avenue.
According to local news sources, one lieutenant sustained a facial laceration, whereas the other officer sustained side-effect injuries. Five individuals have been apprehended on charges of gang assault and assault or attempted assault on a police officer.
