Mocobizscene- Texas’s Fort Worth On Monday, Fort Worth police made public footage showing them engaging in gunfire with a burglary suspect who later committed suicide while fleeing the police.
According to a police press release, the video captured the officers’ interaction with 35-year-old Shane Miller on December 12. Around nine o’clock that evening, officers were called to a burglar alarm in the 700 block of Beach Street, which is northeast of Fort Worth’s downtown. According to the release, the responding officers found Miller on the closed business’s premises with a backpack.
Miller kept going north on Beach Street, so the police stopped him and started talking to him. Miller was being pursued by two officers, one of whom attempted to stop him by using his Taser. Miller took a pistol out of his belt and fired two bullets at the policemen as he fled, according to the police.
Although none of the policemen were hit, according to the police, one of them fell to the ground and the other shot Miller multiple times.
Miller continued to sprint, weaving between two structures. Following the arrival of two more cops, Miller “continued firing rounds at officers,” according to the police.
Miller was shot by three of the cops during the pursuit, which took place close to a Taco Cabana restaurant. Miller raced across the intersection of Beach Street and Texas 121 and under the highway bridge, according to the police, and the cops lost sight of him.
After that, the officers returned to their cars to hunt for Miller once more.
Police have revealed security footage showing Miller approaching a McDonald’s off 121 at around the same time. Miller was on the sidewalk when he stumbled over a storm drain while crossing the street.
According to the authorities, he shot himself in the head when he sat up. Miller appears to be raising a gun to his head in the police footage that was made public on Monday, but the actual shooting was not visible.
About a minute later, according to the police, they located Miller and attempted to help. After being brought to a hospital, he was declared deceased.
Miller’s gun was located where he collapsed, according to police, and several filled firearm magazines were also discovered.
The shooting is being looked into by internal affairs and the big case unit of the police department. After that, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office will assess the case, according to the police.
