Shooting of stabbing suspect by police in Long Beach

Early Wednesday morning, a man who was reportedly armed with a knife was shot by the police in Long Beach.

According to a statement from the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 69th Way at approximately 9 a.m. following a report of a stabbing.

Officers stated that they encountered the man holding a knife inside a residence upon arrival. The suspect disregarded the commands to drop the knife, compelling the authorities to resort to opening fire.

Upon entering the residence, law enforcement officials found an unnamed woman who had been stabbed. Fortunately, her injuries were deemed to be non-life-threatening.

The individuals involved in the stabbing incident were promptly taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment. As of now, the identities of both the victim and the suspect remain undisclosed.

It is unclear what condition the suspect is in at this time. Fortunately, there were no injuries sustained by any officers involved in the incident.
