Mocobizscene- New Orleans lost a beloved singer and entertainer, Gina Brown, on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Brown’s family, who gained fame while leading her band Anutha Level, has confirmed that the singer of the hit song “G-Slide” passed away due to medical complications at Touro Hospital.
Not only was Brown a bandleader, but he also excelled as a DJ and entrepreneur. On Wednesday night, the Treme Sidewalk Steppers organized a second line in her honor. State Representative Rodney Lyons shared a heartwarming photo on his social media, capturing a special moment of him and Brown singing together at a community luncheon.
“I am grateful to God for the time we spent together. You touched the lives of so many people with your beautiful spirit! Rest in peace, Gina Brown, my lifelong friend and singing partner. I already miss you!” expressed Lyons.
Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vranken took to social media to share a photo of herself alongside Brown, expressing her excitement about their encounter.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of an incredibly talented woman, Gina Brown. She utilized her exceptional gifts in singing, entertaining, and inspiring others. I had the privilege of having her as a guest at my ‘Winning Women Wednesday’ event last autumn. Her absence will be deeply felt,” expressed Van Vranken, reflecting on the impact of Gina Brown’s passing.
At 59, Brown left behind a loving family, including her daughter, Tyler Pettigrew. No arrangements have been made for the funeral yet.
