Possible suspect in fatal Mosque shooting identified after arrest in Newark

Mocobizscene- It has been almost a month since the fatal shooting of Imam Hassan Sharif outside Masjid Muhammad, his Newark Mosque, on January 3. However, the recent news of three arrests, including the Imam’s son, has only sparked further inquiries into the murder case.

On Friday, Newark Police apprehended three individuals on Palm Street. The individuals include Abdush Sharif, aged 36, Kevin Rogers, aged 46, and another man who was later released on a weapons charge.

According to sources familiar with their cases, law enforcement officials have confirmed that all three arrests are not related to the murder of the Imam.

In January, detectives initiated an investigation into the possible involvement of a family member in the shooting death of Imam. Imam Mustafa El-Amin, a former member of Masjid Muhammad, made the decision to establish his own Mosque on the other side of the city two decades ago.
