Police Shoot Suspect Carrying A Firearm With Extended Magazine In North Houston

Authorities revealed on Monday that a 23-year-old suspect, who fled from police, brandished a firearm equipped with an unusually elongated magazine. As a result, law enforcement officers were compelled to open fire in response to the threat.

While chasing the suspect on foot within the Breckenridge at Cityview apartment complex on Seminar Drive in north Houston, SkyEye managed to spot the 9mm weapon on a paved walkway.

The Houston Police Department reported that the pursuit occurred when their North Belt Patrol officers were in search of a known aggravated robbery suspect. The suspect was found sitting in a car around 3:30 p.m.

Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite revealed that officers made attempts to apprehend the individual, employing a strategic approach to avoid alerting him. Despite their efforts, the suspect managed to flee the scene.

As officers followed closely behind, the suspect swiftly made their way into the complex. However, they quickly abandoned their escape plan and fled on foot. In their haste, they dropped several narcotics along the way.

During the incident, Satterwhite revealed that the suspect brandished his weapon, prompting the officers to issue a direct command for him to drop it. Consequently, the police responded by firing three shots, successfully striking the individual.

After sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the suspect was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Subsequently, they were released and taken into custody.

According to the police, there is an individual who is currently being sought for his involvement in a robbery case. It is alleged that he followed a victim out of a store, proceeded to rob them, and even resorted to physical violence.
