A member of the Alabama police department was discovered shot and dead in the street, according to the police. Wednesday morning, a Selma Police Department investigator and evidence technician discovered a deceased individual on a roadway with a gunshot wound.
Kenta Fulford, chief of police for Selma, stated that officers arrived around 1:00 a.m. in the 3400 block of Water Avenue in response to a shooting report. Officers discovered Jamyron Hope unresponsive on the ground upon their arrival. The deceased was declared present at the location.
Fulford stated that Hope was a departmental evidence technician. The investigation is currently being led by Special Agents from the State Bureau of Investigation of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Sergeant Jeremy Burkett stated that the Water Street and U.S. Highway 80 will be closed for a considerable duration.

Mayor James Perkins Jr. extends his sincere condolences to Mr. Hope’s family, friends, and colleagues. At this time, no additional information is being disclosed, and the case is still under investigation.
