LOS ANGELES – The 4-year-old child who was the subject of an Amber Alert in Long Beach has been located unharmed. The California Highway Patrol and the Long Beach Police Department publicly alerted that the child was abducted on Tuesday, February 13 around 5:30 p.m. PT when he went missing.
Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage of the area to identify any potential suspects. About two hours later, the car and the boy were discovered in the 100 block of South Pine Avenue. Long Beach police reported that it was a duo of kind-hearted individuals who stumbled upon the car and promptly dialed 911.
The department expressed its gratitude for their heroic act in locating the young boy, as stated in a press release. Around 8 p.m., SkyFOX hovered above the area near West Shoreline Drive and South Pine Avenue. Police accompanied the 4-year-old to an ambulance to ensure the child’s well-being.
The police found the car, but the alleged kidnapper was not present at the scene. Using surveillance footage, the authorities were able to locate and apprehend Timothy Wood, a 34-year-old man who is currently homeless. Wood was arrested near the intersection of Pine Avenue and Shoreline Drive. The police charged him with kidnapping, child endangerment, and vehicle theft. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
