Mocobizscene- Police say that a mother has been arrested after they discovered seven children, all aged 10 years and younger, living in a dire situation in a Broward home. This is not the first time that the mother has been investigated regarding the welfare of her children. The arrest took place on Monday.
Anela Jeanlouis, a 37-year-old woman, is now facing multiple felony charges following a report from an anonymous tipster. The concerned caller informed the police about small children seen running outside a residence located on the 7600 block of Coral Boulevard in Miramar. Jeanlouis, who is the mother of an infant, two toddlers, a 4-year-old, and three school-aged children, has been implicated in this case.
When the police arrived at the residence, they had a conversation with Maykala Jeanlouis, the older sister of the children. Maykala informed them that she was asleep in her room and had no knowledge of her mother’s absence from the house.
During the investigation, Maykala explained that her mother’s home was in a terrible state, attributing it to the fact that her mother had many children who tend to make a mess. Additionally, she mentioned that the refrigerator was mostly empty due to her siblings consuming all the food.
The police flew the children, aged 1, 2, and 3, to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood. The children sustained various injuries, including: The 1-year-old has a scratch under the left eye, as well as red marks on the stomach and back. The 3-year-old has visible marks and scars on their body.
The report states that Jeanlouis resisted the officers who were attempting to handcuff her and even called upon one of her children to assist her. The Florida Department of Children and Families now has custody of the seven children. Jeanlouis had a total of 20 cases with the DCF, with two ongoing investigations.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Jeanlouis is still in the Broward main jail.
