Mocobizscene- Miami Police Chief Manny Morales has released a statement addressing the recent incident of a one-year-old child almost drowning at a pool in Little Haiti. According to Morales, the home had been listed on Airbnb illegally, and the child was staying there on a vacation with their family.
The property seems to have lacked any pool barriers. Morales shared his thoughts on the matter, stating, “Here is what I have to say:”
As the police chief of Miami, I feel a deep sense of anger, heartbreak, and disappointment as we bear witness to a child fighting for their life and a family of tourists desperately clinging to hope.
Those who prioritized profit over human life have caused this tragic situation by deliberately ignoring the basic laws put in place to ensure people’s safety. The individuals behind this illicit short-term rental enterprise have created a situation that has resulted in significant distress and hardship
The Miami Police Department is employing all available resources to ensure that the operators of Airbnb are held responsible for their irresponsible and indifferent behavior.
“Our hearts go out to the child who is bravely battling for their life and the family who is enduring this unimaginable ordeal. We are fully committed to ensuring that justice is served for them and the entire community. We will not stop until we achieve this.”
