Arlington police arrest DC man for theft and evading on Metro tracks

Mocobizscene- The Arlington police apprehended a D.C. man after allegedly stealing items from a store and fleeing onto Metro tracks on Monday. According to the Arlington Police Department (APD), officers responded to a larceny report at the 1200 block of S. Hayes St. at approximately 10:15 a.m.

According to the authorities, a man entered the establishment, collected some items, and proceeded to leave without making any payment. In his attempt to flee, he headed towards the Pentagon City Metro station.

According to APD, he entered the station without paying the fare. When the police arrived at the station, they discovered Alvern Harris, who is 37 years old. They proceeded to issue commands to him, but unfortunately, he chose to ignore them.

Harris quickly sprinted onto the train tracks, but managed to safely step off of them upon reaching the Crystal City Metro station. It was at this moment that the police swiftly apprehended him. Harris faced charges of petit larceny, trespassing on a railroad track, and failure to pay fares. Metro service was temporarily suspended during the response.
