Police Chase Suspected DUI Driver Who Stops to Refuel

Mocobizscene- A man from California made a pitstop to get gas during a police chase, thinking he had successfully escaped from the authorities. However, this decision actually gave law enforcement officers the opportunity to catch up to him. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies had been pursuing a Toyota RAV4 around 8:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day after receiving reports of a suspected drunk driver. As the vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph, the deputies were instructed to abandon the chase.

After approximately 30 minutes, the driver arrived at the gas station. Two men exited the car to refuel, seemingly unaware that their location was being monitored from above by NBC 4. Swiftly, the police raced towards the unsuspecting driver before he had a chance to close his gas tank. Without hesitation, he accelerated back onto the freeway, disregarding multiple red lights along the way. Eventually, near an exit ramp, he yielded to the California Highway Patrol officers. The law enforcement authorities apprehended both the driver and the passenger; however, their identities and potential charges were not disclosed.
