Mocobizscene- The NYPD expressed their grief over the passing of Auxiliary Sgt. Tony Gray through a heartfelt post on the 122nd Precinct’s X page, formerly known as Twitter.
Gray, a 32-year-old father of two girls, started his auxiliary career at the 122nd Precinct in 2008. According to a tweet, he had been fighting an illness for several months. According to the funeral home, he passed away on February 3rd.
A mourner expressed their condolences to the family and offered support through a GoFundMe campaign set up to assist with Gray’s medical expenses. They emphasized the significant loss that Gray’s passing represents and wished him to rest in peace. Gray is fondly recalled by attendees of the fundraiser for his natural wit and intelligence.
Another person who contributed to the fundraiser expressed their deep sorrow, saying, “He will be greatly missed.” The fundraiser has been able to raise $14,000 of its $25,000 goal as of Feb. 7. The 122nd Precinct expressed their condolences, saying, “May he rest in peace,” on X.
The NYPD website states that the volunteer auxiliary police are committed civilians who support their local police precincts in non-enforcement tasks. These duties include patrolling housing developments and transit districts and acting as the “eyes and ears” of the community.
