NOPD Third District Patrol Arrests Local Business Burglary Suspect

Lamar Briscoe was taken into custody by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) after he was suspected of breaking into several businesses. On December 20, 2023, while on patrol in the Third District, an armed burglary was reported to be underway, and that’s when the arrest took place.

The NOPD secured the area surrounding the Paris Avenue store with assistance from the Orleans Levee District Police. Investigators found that money was missing from the register and that the company had been broken into. They discovered a gap in the ceiling that led to Briscoe’s hiding place on the roof.

Detectives discovered Briscoe under a house on Pleasure Street as he attempted to escape. Briscoe, who was born on January 6, 1994, is thought to have broken into multiple companies by climbing through the roof.

Briscoe faces charges related to basic business burglary. Anyone with information regarding Briscoe or the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or Third District detectives at (504) 658-6030, according to the NOPD. Recall that everyone is deemed innocent unless and until they are shown to be guilty in court.

The arrest is a component of the NOPD’s continuous efforts to lower Third District business burglaries. Their patrol tactic appears to be successful in apprehending offenders and stopping other events.
